As parents of a special needs adult child, we are dedicated to providing you with the resources to obtain adaptive equipment you desperately need. Below is an ever-growing list of grants that provide families with special needs children funding when all other avenues (insurance/Medicaid) are exhausted or not billable.Β 

*Safe Place Bedding cannot file to grant programs on your behalf; however, we can supply you with the documents we have received from your doctor as needed. Once you are approved for a grant, we will need the Approval Letter and the Contact Information for billing the grant for the bed. Thanks!Β 

Angelman Syndrome Foundation Family Fund: The ASF Family Fund was created to provide financial assistance to families supporting individuals with Angelman syndrome. Family members can apply for funds that are needed to improve the quality of life for an individual with Angelman syndrome.Β 

To be eligible for funding:

  1. Applicant must be a caregiver (legal guardian, primary caregiver, etc.) for an individual diagnosed with Angelman syndrome.
  2. Request must impact an individual with Angelman syndrome.
  3. Request cannot be for rent, utilities or moving expenses.Β 
  4. ApplicantΒ cannot have received a grant in the last 5 years. Example, if you are awarded during the October 2019 grant cycle, you would not be eligible to apply again until the April 2025 grant cycle.

NOTE:Β The total requested amount for funding may not be met. There is a funding limit of up to $5,000 per grant award.

Autism Speaks- *NATIONWIDE. Autism Speaks has several linked on their website if you search grants in the search bar.

Autism Care Today-Β This will grant up to $5K and does cover medical safety equipment; this one focuses on safety of the autistic child.Β  Limited window of September-October and grant is awarded after that window is closed and the award is UP TO $5K, but paid directly to the vendor.

June Brandy Foundation : This link has several grants available for equipment treatment and even specialized diagnosis. Visit the site to see which grant is your best option.

Making Miracles Happen Foundation- Takes 1 case per month. Offers financial aid to those in need, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to access support when facing difficulties.

MyGOAL Autism Grant Program- Open Jan-July. This grant awards $1,000 once a year in mid-July.Β  Families could qualify for this to get $1,000 to help towards their portion of the self-pay pricing. *Income based and have to give last year's tax returns with application.

OperationSearchandHelp.org- *REGION SPECIFIC. This is for Mahoning & Trumbull counties in OHIO.

Pediatric Medical Grants | Oracle Health Foundation : Β Must be 18 or under, no existing insurance coverage for the item needed, and must meet income specifications to qualify. Up to $40,000 for item. Funds are available all year and are good for 1 year from date granted. Therefore, a family could potentially receive more funds and buy other items that would be within the qualifications.

Special Angels Foundation :Β Special Angels Foundation provides support in obtaining therapies, equipment and resources to families raising children with special needs. Grants for resources are based on the following criteria: letter of medical necessity from primary pediatric specialist, pediatrician, therapist, social worker or IEP; Child must be under age 18 and be a US citizen residing within the United States; Quality of Life must be qualified by their Medical Advisory Board or your licensed physician. An IEP may be considered; Denial of assistance from other medical resources must be verified by a denial letter. This grant is all year as well and will be reviewed within 3 months of application (most of the time sooner) and has to be approved at a board meeting.

UHCCF- The United Healthcare Children's Foundation Medical grant. This grant has specifics to qualify: 1. you must have a primary insurance with a commercial plan. *DOES NOT have to be with United Healthcare. You can have secondary Medicaid and still qualify. 2. Must be 16 or under and meet an income specification to qualify.Β
